TEACHING AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

About Teaching & Assistance

The project activities of the volunteers are designed in such a way that there is no need for previous teaching experience to participate in a teaching project. Teaching material, every day lesson/activity planning and day to day support is provided to the volunteers for making the most impact during their time at the project.

Volunteers engaged in teaching activities build the confidence, academic performance and future prospects of the children and by doing so make a direct and long term contribution towards their overall development.

To bring about transformation in the world or society, education should compulsorily be given importance. Education is the birth-right of every child and equal opportunities for better education should be given to every child present in the society. Every child should be given the gift of basic education which is the bedrock of development. Education helps in changing the personality and the story of a child to live a better life. About 61 million children across the world are not able to attend schools and get basic education and therefore lead a life of poverty. Education opens the door for a number of opportunities and increases the lifetime income of the individual.

A Trip Unlike Any Other

Waking up in the foothills of the Himalayas is a unique experience that you will not forget in your lifetime. Our programme is packed with activities and sights that will amaze your family and friends. You will meet volunteers from all over the world – young women and men just like you who want to make a difference, broaden their horizons, and live an amazing adventure in a part of the world that not many will ever get to experience. You will create bonds that will last forever.

Location - Goa, India

Goa is visited by more tourists than any other location of India. Beautiful sandy beaches and influence of the Portuguese culture make Goa a magnet for tourists. Goa is interesting because of the vast array of activities it offers. The Idex accommodation in Goa is located in South Goa near the Majorda Beach. This part of Goa is untouched by heavy tourist traffic and so it is serene and peaceful.

Plenty of domestic and international tourists visit Goa every year for its pristine white sand beaches, worship spots, nightlife and World Heritage architecture. It also has rich biodiversity due to its location in the Western Ghats. Most of the tourists focus on the coastal areas of Goa and there is not much tourist activity inland. Water sports is widely popular among tourists and beaches such as Calanguteand Baga offer water scooter rides, parasailing, jet-skiing, banana boat rides and so on.

Goa has a cultural environment that cannot be found anywhere else in India due to the 450-year Portuguese rule. A mix of Western and Eastern culture can be seen here with the dominance of the Portuguese culture in its cultural, architectural and social settings. On the religious front, the Bom Jesus cathedral is a famous place of worship here. The convents and churches of Old Goa and the Bom Jesus Basilica are the two World Heritage sites in Goa.

The Bom Jesus Basilicaholds the mortal remains of the Catholic patron saint of Goa, St. Francis Xavier. Apart from the beaches and religious spots, Goa is renowned for its important museums, the Naval Aviation Museum, the National Institute of Oceanography and the Goa State Museum. The Naval Aviation museum is one among the three of its kind in India (the other two are located in Bengaluru and Delhi respectively). Tourists also love Goa for its greatly entertaining dance, music and theatre forms and its delicious cuisine!
