Child Care Volunteer Program

Child Care Volunteering

Caring for the children from underprivileged communities and helping them with Basic English is one of the most satisfying and popular among all volunteering activities. The overall purpose of these projects is to provide a higher standard of care to infants and children in different public and privately-run facilities by providing hands-on support on a day to day basis.

A Personal Adventure that Changes Lives

The childcare project focuses mainly on the personal development and growth of a child, through a number of planned and scheduled day-to-day activities. With the help of this project, volunteers work to provide better care to disadvantaged children. The country is still struggling to provide better and healthy living to disadvantaged children. These children are vulnerable to a number of issues such as illiteracy and malnutrition and they expect a desolate future. Volunteers in the childcare project visit day-care centres and work with children with regard to various issues for healthy living. Through various interactive activities, a learning environment is created to ensure proper growth of children. In this program, care and support activities are planned and performed for children, along with awareness activities related to health and hygiene issues.

A Trip Unlike Any Other

Waking up in the foothills of the Himalayas is a unique experience that you will carry with you forever. Our programme is packed with activities and sights that will amaze your family and friends. You will meet volunteers from all over the world – young women and men just like you who want to make a difference, broaden their horizons, and live an amazing adventure in a part of the world that not many will ever get to experience. The bonds you create will last you a lifetime.

The Children of Srilanka Need Your Help

The people of Sri Lanka confront daily adversities that stunt their potential and limit their opportunities. Illiteracy and malnutrition are compounded by poverty, and it is the children who carry the legacies of underdevelopment into adulthood. Their prospects are limited by their social and economic realities, yet despite it all, they have a spirit that is as pure and joyous as you could ever hope to encounter. We are proud to say that the children of Nepal have benefited greatly from the thousands of IDEX volunteers, people like you, who have generously given their time, insight and kindness for this project.

We invite you to be a part of the solution that drives the betterment of the next generation. You will be able to inspire these children and those who work with them on a daily basis and help them reach greater heights. When you inspire others, you will be inspired. The time you spend can be marked in days or weeks but, the lasting positive impact that YOU can have on a community is beyond measure.

Location - Srilanka

Colombo is the largest city in Sri Lanka and is known as the financial and commercial capital of the country. Located on the west coast of the island, it is the official capital of Sri Lanka and the parliament capital of Sri Lanka.

Colombo is a busy and vibrant city with a mixture of modern life and ancient historical colonial buildings and ruins that offers a variety of experiences. It has the laid-back charm of the historical era combined with the liveliness of a modern city. Colombo would be the best place in Sri Lanka to begin our program.

The wonderful land of Sri Lanka is filled with picturesque beauty due to its beautiful beaches and wildlife sanctuaries. Sri Lanka (officially the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka) is an island in South-east India. Plenty of tourists visit Sri Lanka for its stunning beaches, colonial architecture, Buddhist temples and destinations such as Kandy , Galle , Yala National Park and Colombo. There are also many famous wildlife sanctuaries with elephant and leopard populations in Sri Lanka.

Tourists can dive with blue whales during the season time or enjoy watching spinner dolphins leaping about in the marine sanctuary, Kalpitiya. Sri Lanka has around 5800 wild elephants and one of the largest populations of leopards in the world. Numerous elephants, leopards, buffaloes and sloth bears can be observed in Yala National Park.

Sleepy Gale is the backpackers’ haven with its Dutch Colonial architecture, fascinating nightlife, ice cream parlours and jewellery shops. This is also the spot to witness an international cricket match or explore an ancient fort. Nilaveli and Uppuveli near Trincomalee are stunning and secluded beaches in which the traveller can spend time in peace. In the south east of Sri Lanka, the Arugam Bay is a golden sand crescent and it offers the perfect location for parties on summer days and balmy nights!
