Care & Education for Special Needs Children

Care & Education

Children with special need (mental and physical disabilities) are staring at a difficult future ahead of them. Life is already not a bed of roses for most normal adult, things become even tougher when we become aware of the biases and prejudices that these kids will face when they grow up. Future of kids is a constant source of worry for their parents as the parents think about the time when they will become old and will not be able to support their kids as much as they do now.

A Personal Adventure that Changes Lives

The childcare project focuses mainly on the personal development and growth of a child, through a number of planned and scheduled day-to-day activities. With the help of this project, volunteers work to provide better care to disadvantaged children. The country is still struggling to provide better and healthy living to disadvantaged children. These children are vulnerable to a number of issues such as illiteracy, malnutrition and desolate future. Volunteers in childcare project, visit day-care centres and work with children on various issues for healthy living. Through various interactive activities, a learning environment is created to ensure proper growth of children. In this program, care and support activities are planned and performed for children, along with awareness activities related with health and hygiene issues.

The Children of Goa Need Your Help

Goa people confront daily adversities that stunt their potential and limit their opportunities. Illiteracy and malnutrition are compounded by poverty, and it is the children who carry the legacies of underdevelopment into adulthood. Their prospects are limited by their social and economic realities, yet despite it all, they have a spirit that is as pure and joyous as you could ever hope to encounter. We are proud to say that the children of Nepal have benefited greatly from the thousands of IDEX volunteers, people like you, who have generously given their time, insight and kindness.

We invite you to be a part of the solution that drives the betterment of the next generation. You will be able to inspire these children and those who work with them on a daily basis to reach ever higher. As you inspire others, so are you inspired. The time you spend can be marked in days or weeks. The lasting positive impact that YOU can have on a community is beyond measure. As you inspire others, so are you inspired. Location - Goa, India

Goa is visited by more tourists than those visiting any other location of India. Beautiful sandy beaches and influence of the Portuguese culture make Goa a magnet for tourists. Goa its is interesting because of the vast array of activities it can offers. The Idex accommodation in Goa is located in South Goa near the Majorda Beach. This part of Goa is untouched by heavy tourist traffic and so it is serene and peaceful.

Plenty of domestic and international tourists visit Goa every year for its pristine white sand beaches, worship spots, nightlife and World Heritage architecture. It also has rich biodiversity due to its location in the Western Ghats. Most of the tourists focus on the coastal areas of Goa and there is not much tourist activity inland. Water sports is widely popular among tourists and beaches such as Calangute and Baga offer water scooter rides, parasailing, jet-skiing, banana boat rides and so on.

Goa has a cultural environment that cannot be found anywhere else in India due to the 450-year Portuguese rule. A mix of Western and Eastern culture can be seen here with the dominance of the Portuguese culture in its cultural, architectural and social settings. On the religious front, the Bom Jesus cathedral is a famous place of worship here. The convents and churches of Old Goa and the Bom Jesus Basilica are the two World Heritage sites in Goa.

The Bom Jesus Basilica holds the mortal remains of the Catholic patron saint of Goa, St. Francis Xavier.
